Synopsis of the book «In the Lives of Puppets» by T.J. Klune
In the midst of a dense forest, a strange family resides within a home constructed among the branches of a grove of trees. This unconventional family is composed of three robots; a fatherly inventor android named Giovanni Lawson, a nurse machine with a penchant for inflicting pain, and a small vacuum longing for affection. Human Victor Lawson also lives among them, and together they are safe and hidden away from the outside world.
However, everything changes when Vic repairs an unfamiliar android labeled “HAP” and discovers a dark past shared by Hap and Gio – a past spent hunting humans. Hap unintentionally alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their location, putting the family in danger. Gio is captured and taken back to his old laboratory in the City of Electric Dreams, leaving the rest of Vic’s family with the task of embarking on a treacherous journey across an unforgiving and alien land to rescue Gio from decommissioning or worse, reprogramming.
Throughout their journey, Vic struggles with conflicting emotions towards Hap, grappling with feelings of both betrayal and affection. The journey to save Gio prompts Vic to make a choice – can he accept love that comes with strings attached?
Author TJ Klune invites readers into the heart of a mystical forest, introducing them to an unusual family assembled from spare parts. Join them on their extraordinary journey filled with danger, love, and the powerful bonds that hold them together.
